I'm new to land management and need some thoughts. The property I'm hunting is heavily wooded (about 1.5 acres of the 20) with young mesquite at the only entrance to the property and on the path to the stands, allowing for spooking as soon as I pull up to the gate. The canopy is about chest heigth. I've found multiple deer droppings under it and laid down grass. There is plenty of other bedding on the property and it borders a WMA. My thought is to go and raise the canopy layer by removing all limbs under 8 foot and only leaving the branches low around the border to screen my movement and prevent bedding. Does this seem right or am I off somewhere on my strategy?
ps I cant enter the property elsewhere as it is on a cliffs edge and I enter at the lowest point.
