rangefinder questions

Howdy, I've never owned a rangefinder. When I need to measure around here I break out the rollotape. Yes, I am old school. It would be nice to know what object distances are for many things around the farm. Could I use the RF to tell me how high a limb is? I maintain about 500 trees and it would be nice to know how high a limb is and if I can reach it before I go load the platform on the truck and break the pole saw out. Would a lower priced one do that? Thanks

Most RF aren’t going to hit anything closer than 10 yds, and small limbs would be very difficult to reach. You’d be better off with a laser tape measure for that purpose.
