I favor mornings way more than evenings. I think my numbers show that 65-70% of my bucks have come from morning hunts. You can sit as long as you need to, especially if weather/the rut/moon cause some mid to late morning action. You aren't in a race against daylight like an evening hunt.

IMO you spook just as many animals walking out of the general vicinity of a stand in the black dark after an evening hunt as you do walking into a stand before a morning hunt. You can get there plenty early to let things settle down in the morning.

I have killed a lot of deer just before dark thirty. But, my biggest ones have been in the mornings.

I think it is common for deer to pattern the hunters and just quit coming to feeders early and late - supposed "prime time". Some hunters never get out of that rut and wonder where all the deer went.

Jeez. I was just axing a question. My favorite time of day is the crack of dawn. For the record, i ain't afraid of the dark. I get in early and stay late. Was just curious if hunting only in the evening was / is "a thing". Apparently not.

          Thanks for the input.

I hunt both. I prefer mornings as it is usually cooler and less windy. Get in my stand hour before daylight. Love the pitch black then the slowly it gets light. Birds, and other wildlife come to life.

I hunt both morning and evenings. The areas I hunt tend to be better morning areas. I also tend to mainly hunt prerut/rut. Sometimes I go real early, and target being in my spot while its still dark, other times I target early morning with just enough daylight to see, so I don't use a light. Depends on the area, and what time I see deer there.

I will say, ive walked up close to bucks with 50-75yrds, during the early Moring light and the deer weren't super spooked. Wind was good, and im fairly quiet walker. Ive went in real early and one stray bright light caused running and squawking from deer. I think it depends on the area, time of year and what traffic looks like in the area.

I favor mornings, but am flexible to what Im seeing and adjust.

Mornings..really really cold no. Sit at the kitchen table and watch the house feeder.

I love morning hunts. I use to get in an hour before sunrise after corning senderos, but by the time legal light came the corn was gone. Now, I get in about 15 minutes before legal light after corning. Most deer don't mind me getting settled in cuz they love that yellow [emoji535].

I always hunt mornings unless i have a bad wind. But 95% of the time its south wind and i can get to my bow stand without deer hearing or smelling me. We hunt on 20 acres so 90% of the deer bed on the neighbors property to the south of me.. She has 1000 acres that doesn't get hunted

I mainly sit in a box in the morning and bow in the evening. But I hunt big food plots. But sometimes I sit in the box in the evening and drink beer and p out the window

I hunt both. I do prefer Evening hunts though. That is when I’ve had my best luck for whatever the reason.

I just love to bowhunt no matter the time, but if I had one hunt left and had to pick, I would choose an afternoon hunt. For no other reason than I’ve shot 80% or so of my good deer on afternoon sits. And I love them West Texas sunsets.

I was fixin to post this exact same thing.

I’ve been known to head to the blind at 1AM and sleep till daylight.

If it’s just me, I don’t mind sleeping in. Life is stressful, I payed my lease dues, and I’ll hunt or sleep when I want.

If my son is with me, we hunt mornings.

I’ve been known to stumble to bed at daylight too![emoji15]

I hunt both morning and evening, but I seem to shoot most of my deer during evening sits. I guess deep down, I just love tracking and skinning deer after it has gone completely dark and eating dinner later than everyone else.[emoji41][emoji41]

Im goin on a whitetail hunt in Kentucky, in September, the guides said they only hunt the evening hunts there, on their ranches, so they don't bump the deer in the morning's. I've always hunted both here in Texas.
