Did you have a hard time getting dogs from the rescue shelter? I recently inquired through 3 different animal shelters in Bexar county and they acted like I was going to adopt the dog and then butcher it. Said I had to foster the dog then could apply to keep it or I would have to show them I was capable of taking care of one and be "approved".

I got one old dog that is going to give up the ghost fairly soon and thought I would get one through a shelter.

Basenjis fit almost all his requirements. They are hypoallergenic but they are very independent. They are a one master dog. They can stand still and jump over a 5 foot fence. And the have needles for teeth.

I would like to have another one but they can be a pain.

When I was growing up, my mom always had a pair of Westies running around.

Just like any terrier, they can have a excitable streak. I remember them always chasing each other from room to room. One of them always slid past the door into the door frame. It was hilarious.

Bichon Frise. If you get one, don't go all gaga over papers, AKC, and all that. Just don't get a puppy mill dog. Instead of the marshmallow man haircut, just do a sport cut (we did a number 2) all over our Bichon. He was zero shed, zero smell, loved everybody, and was as water friendly as any animal I've ever seen. Perfect dog for indoors. After his passing my wife got a schoodle (schnauzer poodle mix) and this little dog is just a grade A a-hole. I hate schnauzers.

We had mini poodles growing up. Mean dogs with kids as they are territorial with adults. My sister got bit on the nose cuz she got near my mom.

There's no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog breed, although some individual dogs may cause fewer allergy symptoms than others. Many people think that pet allergies are caused by a dog's or cat's fur, but the real source of pet allergies is often a protein that's in the saliva and urine of dogs and cats.

It is 10 months old, fixed, male, house broken and leash trained. Bad part is he is undergoing heartworm treatment now. She is now fostering the dog during the treatment. We figured someone dumped it because of the heartworms. They must be cured before he can be adopted. Cost would be minimal from the shelter.
Haa, made me think of this picture.
