    Splitting Beef

    Good evening folks,

Does anyone know of any ranches within a reasonable distance of Fort Worth that lets families "buy in" to a portion of beef cattle? It was really popular back in Wisconsin. We would have families buy our cattle and we would arrange everything with the butcher etc. Unfortunately my family no longer raises beef (and being 900 miles away doesn't help).

Thanks for any input y'all have.

What are you doing here D Yankee? Heard that a lot when I came down here 40 or so years ago. Where from in
    Wisconsin?

Go buy one from a sale barn and split it with a friend or 2

Hit up your local Extension office and see if any kids have show steers for sale. With all the virus BS going on a lot of kids lost out on auction money to fund next years project and it's ready to go to butcher finished beef.

Been thinking about the same thing, hopefully the person we buy from will haul to or recommend a butcher as our local butcher shop isn’t interested in butchering anything from a local source
Thinking about buying in on a pig also

I bet if things get as hectic as they claim they’ll be changing that tune very soon.

Saw an 18k show steer go through the sale barn last weekend and it brought $2500

The auctioneer knew the family that bought it for Houston is how he knew how mich they gave for the calf

I don’t know he is pretty much a jerk
“ we had 63 MLD does we needed processed before and after Genral hunting season and he did nothing but complain about It “

I know for a fact he doesn’t butcher anything for our county livestock show

I got some good wages heifers that I will grow out for you

If you pay for the fees out process, I probably can get our guy to feed one out for a month

Haha I moved here in 2014 to get away from the -30F weather......and the left politics up there. Brother took over the farm and switches to crops instead of beef/milk. I love Texas but Go Pack Go!

I didn't even think about 4H or FFA. I suppose the hard part is finding someone who A) has a beef cow theyd like to sell and B) finding and transporting that cow to a butcher. I've done a few myself but I don't think my neighbors would appreciate me stringing a cow up and butchering it here.

We do them and have a few in the DFW area that buy from us. Booked 2 this week and September 23 was as soon as we can get them in to processing

That's not bad. Good beef is worth the wait. How much per pound are you roughly expecting to get?
