Anyone else have this issue? I backfilled with dirt & even placed fairly large rocks bordering the pad & the little sucker still nosed through the rocks & is starting to dig under pad again. Always along the pad edge closest to edge of house. I may have to stake out & snipe this dude

Not sure if you have access to a dog, and can let it have free rein.
Here's a true story. Long ago, we lived in the country and kept bird dogs in a pen out back. Well, an older dog died, and we decided to just let a young pointer run loose. About that time armadillos had been digging around under the house foundation.
Thing to know is: that mild-mannered, young pointer killed three armadillos in the first week she was running free.

Best solution---Go to Auto Zone, etc and buy a package of road flares. Light one, stick it as far into the hole as you can reach, backfill, done. Flare burns up all the oxygen, armadillo goes to sleep, and is already buried.
A more risky alternative is to get a length of hose and a funnel, some bleach and some ammonia. Pour a cup of bleach into the hole thru the hose, then pour a cup of ammonia in. Remove the funnel and put your thumb on the hose. Take a deep breath, and blow into the hose---DO NOT INHALE! Backfill. The fumes from the combo are toxic and will kill the critterl
Put my trap out a week ago, have caught 3 so far.
