    Dump trailers

Who has but and/or uses them. I’m looking at some and they are all different prices. What should I look for in a trailer? I’m wanting it to clean up around the property to haul off metal, trash, and whatever else. Seems hard to find a used one. I have a 3/4 ton truck son it sure what size I should get. The bumper pull ones seem small. Any advice would be appreciated.

Definitely would not go with a bumper pull on a dump trailer

We have Texas pride loadtrail and a Lamar. Would skip past the texas pride and go with either the LT or Lamar. Both havr held up well to the abuse we put them through.

The most popular one I sell is the 14' bumper pull with 2-7k axles and 2' sides. The 2' sides allow for easy loading by hand. There are also 3 and 4' sides that works good for brush/debri. Make sure your combo GCVWR stays under 26,001 so you do not have DOT in your business. A 3/4 ton and one with 2-7k axles keeps you under that. I agree with bloodtrailer28 and will add that PJ and Diamond C are good choices as well. If buy new, make sure the dealer can do warranty work if needed. Make sure a tarp kit is included. These are like tractors, buy bigger than you think you will need. Most will have the combo rear gate-split/spreader gate, that would a be a must for me. It buying new, get them to upgrade to 14 ply tires or go with a 17.5" tire upgrade. A dump trailer has to be one of the most overloaded trailers on the market. I prefer a single cylinder scissor lift or the single telescopic center mast. For scissor the 5" cylinder is standard and 6" cylinder is the upgraded. Standard walls/floor is 10 gauge and 7 gauge is well worth the upgrade IMO. You can get them with crossmembers on 12" center. If you have a tractor, then consider the ability to haul it too. Most come with ramps and d rings inside to secure equipment. One like I described will run high 8k to low 9k depending on brand & dealer.

I have a bumper pull 16 ft Texas Bragg it’s the best thing I ever had but It will destroy a half ton truck. Bought it in 1999 I use it for roofing. I would buy another one in a heartbeat

I have a 14ft bumper pull tx pride with 2 7k axles. I pull it every day with my gas f250. I've had it over a year and no issues it gets dumped multiple times a day

We have exactly what he described in a PJ trailer it is awesome and does more than it should honestly. But you have to have a 3/4 ton to pull it but it really does better with a 1 ton

I have several 14 foot bumper pull PJ's. Dual 7k axles, 2 foot sides with removable 2 foot extensions. They are great trailers.

PJs are nice. I don’t plan on using it for business but I don’t want to rent one because I want to be able to use it whenever. I do have a tractor but don’t have to haul it around a lot. Any suggestions were to buy used?

I do not have a good answer for used. I try to watch for deals that I can flip but dumps and cargos seem to be the hardest ones to find in decent condition.

I couldn't find a used one.. But I got a 8' load trail that I use behind my Tacoma. It holds +/- 3,000#'s of rock/dirt.

                    It's nice and tough.

I have a 12 foot bumper pull that I pull with my F150 super crew. I use it to work around the farm. It has 3’ sides. Loaded with top soil it is a load for my truck. I used it extensively during Harvey recovery. It was a life-saver! It is great for putting up tower blinds at the deer lease too!! Just assemble the tower to the stand on its side in the trailer then bust stand it up!!

A good one is Big Tex 14' 14k with single ram scissors lift comes with split door, spreader door. Comes with ramps and welded in tie downs.
Finding a used one is very hard unless they are destroyed and then they still can be expensive.

My 12’ is a Big Tex. It seems to be well built.

LOVE IT!! HAVE TO HAVE a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel truck to pull it. Use it several times a week. Tandem dually axles. Haul shavings for the **** racehorse stalls. Haul gravel for our ranch roads. The wife hauls everything in it. Dan is right. I looked for a good used one for 10 months and just bought a new one in Madisonville. Also bought a 25 ft gooseneck flatbed to haul round hay bales from the same place.

Tandem duals? That would be nice but I wouldn’t need one that big very often. But I guess it would mean less trips...
