Help - Surround sound in new home

Im currently building our house and thought I would be able to hire someone with knowledge about installing our home theater system before we dry-walled anything. That has not been the case and I guess where I live nobody does this. Can anybody help? I can send a pic of the plans and am willing to pay for the help? Thank you

I installed (retrofitted) it myself in my house. I might be able to give you some advice. First thing you should do is know where the speakers need to be.

Set up your home theater with 7.1 virtual speakers enabled with Dolby Atmos using our PDF and guide for optimal sound. Experience your entertainment in Dolby.

Figure out where you want the speakers and run good quality speaker wire before you sheetrock. Really nothing to it. I would buy the wall jacks and run it to them.

So is the house built now? If not it's all about running a ton of wire.

This. Main thing is getting the wires run from where you plan to have the receiver and each speaker placed. Way easier to do before dry wall is installed.

You can source good quality audio cable. https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-...366210&sr=8-16 Something like this will work really well in walls and attic

I'd use nail on low volt rings instead or outlet boxes at each speaker opening. Use a 2 or 3 gang box behind the stereo head unit location.

Awesome. Thank y’all. I’m gonna go to work on it Sunday. And there is no sheet rock yet. Going to try and have everything pre-wired.

Also remember that the size of your TV will be larger in three years.

It's really straightforward. Just get some quality wire and don't use cheap junk connectors. Monoprice.com is a good place to get wall plates, connectors, etc. I did my house myself and brought all the wires to a central panel behind the tv and used the banana plug sockets for all the speakers so once all the wires were run, I put my receiver on my console and ran wires from it terminating in banana plugs and just plugged them into the wall. Your sub will likely be coax so that's a bit different but again, just run quality cable and you are good.

I did the same thing when I built my house. I'll only do wireless next time.

Run smurf tube in the walls. Makes adding cables in the future much easier, HDMI and Cat6 will be obsolete in 5-10 years, just like RCA is no longer the norm.

I assume your going to wall mount the tv? Have some 2x10s or 2x12 run horizontal between the wall studs and when you go to mount the TV it will make things much easier. You won’t have to hunt for a stud.

I've done my last 2 homes and can give you all the advice you want. You need to define your budget and that will determine if you do Atmos, Pro Logic etc. You can drop $20k on a theater room in a blink of an eye. Honestly, of your viewing distance in less than 12' throw a 75" TV and sonos and that will be great set up.
