We stayed in Pitkin Co one Christmas. Beautiful small town, had a guy deliver us some snow mobiles and rode in the National Forest.

My wife and I stayed at Outpost motel and cabins in Dolores Colorado for a day waiting to go on an elk hunt. Nice cabins, nothing fancy but in a great area.

Ruidoso New Mexico is the place! We went horseback ridding in the mountain covered in snow Christmas Day up in the Runnels place.

AirBnB anywhere. Cloudcroft, NM is an underated little town that would be cheaper than most ski towns and is a pretty easy drive. Durango, CO is pretty cool with some good restaurants and shopping for the ladies.

We have gone to Estes the last two years right after Christmas. Flights are cheap and its easy to get there even after a good snow. Once youre there you got plenty to do and can travel to get into more snow if you like.

Estes Park is our go to when the mountains are calling. Check out River Spruce Cabins, nice place, great owners, can't recommend them enough.
