Hello everyone, I’m getting ready to move to San Antonio in the next couple of months and am trying to get an idea of how much a 40x60 shop would cost. Is there a contractor that has done builds for y’all? Any folks I should stay away from? I’m in no rush as I won’t be down there for another 4-6 months but I’m just trying to get a ball park estimate on how much this thing is going to run me.

As a rule of thumb you can expect to pay around $25 square foot for a good metal building with no electrical or plumbing. But there are lots of factors involved. Most builders are going to quote the minimum specs cause that's what their competition is going to do. Here are some things to consider:

Amount of fill dirt. Level lot or sloped? I've seen some with no fill.
Size of steel in the slab. And how will it be spaced. How many beams?
How thick will the slab be?
How many windows?
How many roll up doors and what type. Insulated?
How many man way doors?
Insulation?
What do you want pre-plumbed?
Gutters?
