You can, but this is a washing machine hose. It has 2 female ends, so you’ll need a 3/4” threaded nipple to screw into the float.

Did you use a threaded nipple screwed into the 2”X3/4” bushing coming off the tank too?

We used a reducer down to 3/4” to screw the hose onto

Out in our country with the super hero overachieving coons, get the washing machine hose with the braided steel covering it. Not much more expensive but good insurance

Good advice. I might swap mine out next trip down.

Why did you paint them black?
              Animals prefer hot water?

Prevent algae growth by limiting sunlight.

To help keep algae from growing inside the tank. If you can block the sunlight it will not grow or at least significantly slow it down.

The opaque tanks will usually have a thick matt of algae on top in a matter f a couple of weeks.

The automatic dog waterers from Tractor Supply work really good for this.

Don't forget to anchor them down with rebar or something similar.

The water in the trough will be the same temp as if it was in a clear tank. It may be hotter in the tank, but it’ll get to outside temp in the trough.

This^^zzzzz the water entrance into the trough is so slow it will not change the trough temp. .. plus the trough temp will get significantly cooled at night.

Nice setup, do you have hogs ? If so you may want to put a cattle panel over top. Deer & critters can still get there mouth through the squares.
I have issues with hogs climbing in my troughs when it gets really dry.

Yes there are pigs there. It’s staked down. We haven’t had a problem with the others yet. Not saying it won’t happen, just hasn’t happened yet. Lol
