Ok, had this pond dug. It’s prob half full, maybe a little less. I see no more rain in immediate forecast.

My question, is it worth piping water down from the house? How long would it take to fill it, or would it fill it at all? Anyone else done this ?

May is typically a rainy month. I would wait and see. After that I would considered filling it.

If you have the money spend the coin for instant gratification. Personally, I would just wait, especially being a new pond. It's not like filling a pool, going to be a lot of water lost in the dirt and evaporation.

I say it’s brand new. I had in dug middle of March, irs seen all these rains that have done good for it but i don’t see anything big coming. That’s why i ask. Thanks for the input!

The tank we cleaned out and refilled, it took my water well doing 42 gallons a minute almost 4 wks to fill. Was abouthe same size as yours and around 20 ft deep. I would suggest wait on the rain, unless you had a larger capacity than just the house.

You have any diversion ditches dug to divert water into it? If not filling with a 10 gallon per minute water well will be expensive. JMO

Yes i catch quite a bit of runoff from rain.

A water well running about 4-5 days will fill it. I’m basing that off my own pond and well.
