    Wireless hog trap help

Help!! Long story short we bought some land and the guy had a wireless hog trap out there. Super nice pen, real big. Has massive camera on it and feeder in the middle, only problem is it cost like 50 bucks a month to use the camera and wireless door. I know there are some cheaper options out there, so we have the pen, just need the door mechanism that you can set from your phone. We have covert cameras so will probably just use those. Anybody got any ideas?

Look for an automatic gate opener or a garage door opener that has a control board that can be connected to a phone. You’ll have to pay the monthly line fee either way but I’m sure you can build something that works off an actuator.

As far as cameras, look into an Arlo Go. You won’t regret having live stream and 10 second video bursts when it detects movement.

The trigger mechanism is fairly simple to build. Most folks use automotive door poppers to trigger with. I think I have some schematics and a parts list. If you will pm me your email address, I will send you what I have in the morning.

How much are they and how much each month?

We are located in Decatur and manufacture our own remote traps. If you would like to stop by and check out our demo trap maybe our controls would work on your trap. Our data plans very from trap to trap depending how often your on live video. On average our traps cost around $15-$20 a month to run.

If the hogs are bad enough, $50 is well worth it

You just need a stick and a really, really long string.
