    Hillman guide service

Had a trip booked with Steve for about a month to fish Galveston bay. Both of the guys that were fishing with me bailed out. One work related and one wife covid-19 fear issue. Both last min and total BS.

When I booked the trip Steve wouldn't take a deposit from me. He said to much going on and he wouldn't feel comfortable taking any money up front. He was firm on it, pay me after we fish.

I called him today to cancel and offered to pay for the trip or what ever portion of it he would like. He said he was not going to take my money and said call me when your ready to book a new date.

I feel really bad about it. Apart from booking a new date with him how do I go about making this right.

    Green screen what says you?

Sounds like a good businessman, tip extra when you go. Oh, and posts like this are free advertisement.

I'd book a new date with him and tip him heavily after you go.

Steves a good dude. Book him later and find some better buddies to tag along.

I can tell you first hand that we are losing a ton of bookings right now. Some of my friends have lost over 90% of their trips. You are not nearly the only group that has had to cancel on him. Yeah, it stinks from our (guide's) prospective but what are you gonna do? There is nothing we can do about the current situation and we have to be human about it. I can't blame someone for deciding they don't feel comfortable with getting out and fishing right now. He is probably looking at it the same way I am, I'd rather just lose the bookings right now but leave the door open to have you come back later. Keeping deposits on cancellations related to this situation just doesn't feel right.

The best thing you can do is just as soon as you have a group that feels comfortable with getting out and fishing book a trip and go fish with him. That is the best you can do for him. That and tell your friends if you enjoyed the trip and that he was fair with you.

When you book next trip drop an extra hundred in his hand.

                  Steve is good as gold.

Hes a great guy. Don't worry about it. Catch him the next time around.
But tell your friends that the area you were going to fish is hot with trout right now.
