Looking at trying some public lands in kansas this year with my dad. We try to take one long trip a year to a new place and are thinking about Kansas this year. Have pretty much decided on the western part of the state. The question i have is there any maps that show the unit and then what public lands are located inside that unit? Trying to decide which unit we want to put in for but cant find a map that has the unit and then whats located inside that unit. We can find one that has the state broken down into north western south western ect. Anybody know of anymore detailed maps? Or any recommendations on units in the western part? Thanks in advance m

On there web site under Hunting, go to Where to Hunt and then find Hunting Atlas.
Send me your address and I can send you an old copy of a paper back atlas if you want. I have a few around here.
Your going to have to jump back and forth from the unit map to the public land map. You get to pick 2 units that touch each other, like 17 and 18. or 17 and 5 or 18 and 16 and you can hunt either unit or both.
If you get a licence I would get OnXLast edited by Bassdeer; 04-20-2020, 12:36 PM.

We were thinking of trying to find a unit that has a bunch of public land or big tracts and then putting in for those. Not sure if thats the best way to go about it lol but just what were thinking. 17&18 is what we have been looking at just cant figure out what public areas are inside those units.

Download Explorer App.
Then Search Kansas 2019-2020 WIHA
It will show you all public land in Kansas.
You can click on each property and it will show you acre size and dates that it can be hunted. Also if it is shotshell & archery only, or if you can hunt it with a rifle too.
Then google Kansas Hunting Unit Map.
You’ll have to go back and forth to determine. What Highways divide the units.
Some of the properties contracts may expire this year and some new ones may appear on the 2020-2021 map when it comes out.
