Currently what's the best value thermal scope. Heard good things about pulsar trails etc. Looking for 640 screen min and 50mm or larger. Not opposed to used rigs either Thanks

The Trail XP 50 is going to be your best value with those requirements, but it’s no longer being produced as of Jan this year. They’ve been replaced with the Trail XP50LRF2. I’ve got the XP50LRF, which is just a XP50 with laser range finder. The 50LRF2 is just an updated version with slightly better heat sensor and a few other options I believe. They’re not cheap at $6k. Other wise you’re options are Trijicon and N Vision for a 50+ mm 640 rig, and they’re both $7500+. Personally I’d look for a used XP50 if you want to keep the price reasonable. You should be able to find them in the $4k range.

Some reason it completely slipped my mind last night. Pulsar is still making the Thermion XP50, which retails for $5k. It’s currently the cheapest quality thermal with your requirements that’s still being produced.
As TD said though. You won’t be disappointed with a XP38 or XP50. I sold a like new XP38 for $3k last year. There’s deals to be had if you’re patient.

Sig has the new Echo3 out now. Improved resolution and magnification options. 2 different models according to how much magnification you want. 3k to 4k. Made in USA.
I have the Echo1. As far as tough, last December I totalled my Tundra, rolling and skidding on the side and roof. Rifle and sight were rattling around loose inside the cab along with tools, other guns, etc. Rifle stock got dents and gouges, but sight held zero.
