This giraffe was shot with a bow in South Africa...……in 2007. The skin was tanned in Africa and has been in the freezer since. I was a bit concerned about that but after I got it and it was thawed it wasn't in to bad of shape.
I laid it out on my driveway and gave it a good wash and let it set in a plastic bag to rehydrate. Gave it a stretch and bought a form that was a close fit.
The hunter wanted something different and one of a kind so I chopped the form up into several pieces and rotated the neck and turned it into a wall pedestal. The head alone had 10 hours of work to get it to fit. The form modification has 30 to 40 hours in the modification.
I have made time laps videos from day one and will be making three different YouTube videos that will be around 20 minutes each. Skin prep, form modification and mounting/finishing.
I have decided if I ever mount another one, my price will go up by $100,000.00! A giraffe is not a one man job!
