How to kill armadillos?

Other than lead poisoning, how do you get rid of them? This is in a big field that has big holes where the 'dillos dug out their burrow.

are you 100% sure it's armadillos ? Burrows and big holes in the spring time could be a coyote den. Set up a trail camera to confirm activity

An old timer once told me there's a lot worse things in a field than armadillos. It took me a while to realize why he said that.

I've never seen one do that. They usually only dig a few inches looking for food. They normally den up in the woods/brush or in some cover. Maybe you got a badger or something else.

We have had one for a few years and I was skeptical at first too. But these traps dang sure work! Definitely get one that is pre-scented. Apparently they are drawn to the armadillo scent in the trap.

my dogs usually keep them run off from around the house. the dogs can't really hurt them and it's quite entertaining to watch the dillos run from the dogs

I think the only thing that attracts armadillos is earth worms and other armadillos. I did not get the scented trap and still had my first after 2-3 days. There's a video on the site that shows you how to funnel them in. Once you have the first one, you leave it in there for 24 hours. Then you have a scented trap and don't need the funnel anymore. Make sure that is what is causing the problem before you make the investment.

You can build one for $15 -- I did. Nothing magic about it, but I put 2x8s to funnel them into the trap. Leave the first catch inside the trap 24 hrs to "season" the trap.

They dig a hole in the ground for a den. I tried to catch a huge armadillo as a kid, the thing about drug me down it's hole. The hole was big enough I could have probably fit down it. But it was by far the biggest armadillo I have ever seen, don't know if it was the typical 9 banded we have commonly or something else.
