    Hanging a porch swing

Back porch doesn’t have a convenient place to hang the swing. The cross brace has lighting and decorative trim I don’t want to damage.

Will the rafters support a porch swing kit or shackles?

I gotta believe they would but I would wait on some of the guys that would know. I had one at my other house but need to figure out one here.[emoji848]

That is some solid construction, and I don't think you would have any problem hanging a swing from the rafters, unless it is a double-decker that holds twenty people

Keep in mind, for a swing to work properly, the chains that support the swing need to be the same length. If the are different lengths, the swing-arc will not be the same on both ends of the swing, and the swing will try to rotate about its vertical center.

You can add additional framing below the rafters, in order to keep the swing parallel to what it attaches to.
