    New Hunting Thumb Release Suggestion

I am ready to pull the trigger and try out a handheld thumb release. Looking strictly for hunting and must be able to lock on my D loop and leave it alone.

Some searching has me looking at TruBall Max Pro but open to others if this is not a good route

I have black Carter wise choice for $160 - tyd.

    Used very little.

Personally, I hate the tru-ball “trigger”. It’s not on a sear and feels crappy to me.

I shoot a Scott Sigma and really like it. Carter has several good models to choose from as does Stan.

Is this good for hunting? Can it clip on to d loop and stay?

Yes and yes! Carter are really good. Thats a good deal. I shot a Carter Hammer. They dont make them anymore. I like a bigger four finger release. Fits my hand well.

Hard to beat Carter releases. I shoot a Chocolate lite/Chocolate Addiction 4 finger. If I'm stand hunting, I clip it to my D-loop so all I have to do is pick up the bow and draw...
Also, I served a string to the finger grip so I could loop it over my wrist for spot and stalk hunting. My instincts make me drop the release after the shot to get another arrow out of the quiver like I used to do with a wrist strap finger release. Sure helps.

My opinion carter is the best for hunting. Less moving parts and super simple. I love my target 4. I find the carters with that style jaw are more accurate than the auto cock ones.

How does this style do with a bigger hand?

I got a Carter Chocolate Addiction that I used for one season. Got it after reading everyone's review. Been keeping as a back-up when I went back to a trigger release.

I have fat sausage fingers and it fits fine.

I love my Stan Sx. It’s been a great release.

I’ve been shooting a Carter just b-cuz for a year or so. I like it and won’t go back to a wrist style.

Ive owned a bunch of them and ive settled on the carter wise choice. Autolocking jaw and very crisp sear.

Get on archerytalk and find one for the best price.
