    elbow pain when shooting bow

Does anyone get pain in there elbow when shooting. I'm sure 15 years of weightlifting didn't help but any cures or techniques would be appreciated. It is my left elbow and I'm right handed. I shoot 70lbs. Maybe droping to 60???

drop the weight...also take to a Dr. and get some stretching exercises.....it's the tendon that is hurting more than likely...

its commonly referred to as tennis elbow or tendinitis ( my brother is an Aggie Dr. specializes in pain mgmt and ortho rehab) you could also try one of those forearm bands that tennis players use, you can also pick one up at Academy...it may give you temporary relief from the shock/vibration of the bow...thats a freebie diagnosis from my brother...also an avid bowhunter (shoots traditional)

It is difficult sometimes to tell when y’all are serious or just fooling’ around but on the off chance that you are serious with this question, I will answer it from the prospective of an archery coach…
Most of the time when I hear this complaint it stems from over flexing the elbow of the bow arm; meaning that you could be pushing too hard and hyper-extending the elbow. The bow arm should be relaxed just as if you were to raise it naturally to make the STOP sign with your hand.. You ca experience this feeling by leaning against a door jam in a relaxed manner, and then pushing with your arm only... you will feel the hyper-extention immediately.

Below I have posted a drawing of both the proper position (#1 in the drawing) and the most common WRONG arm positioning (#2). I have also included drawings of the proper hand position for most compound shooters and the most commonly used stance for shooting.
If y’all were joking…. I’m sorry for wasting the space…

thats funny...I come from one of those mixed families, he drives a maroon 4x4 pick up with A&M stickers and frames, I drive a white suburban with Longhorn stickers and license frames, talk to him all the time except the last week in November...he took me to the Dixie Chicken when I turned 21....
