We killed two deer this year and we are going through it pretty fast. I think I've got 3 limits of doves left as well. I've been trying to kill an axis or two to fill the freezer back up, but haven't been able to score yet. Hopefully we score this weekend.

I have less ground deer than I realized, but just did some jalapeƱo bacon wrapped deer steak and dove last night.

I managed to ration my venison pretty well this year due to a bunch of bird hunting last year. Even have a full strap left!

BUT i am out of chukar, dove, and quail.

I am out of everything venison because I ate tag soup last year. I have a freezer full of fish fillets though. Probably close to 90 or 100lbs. If anyone wants to do a little swapping hit me up. Im just looking for some ground venison. We use it in everything lol.

We had a good year and last year, my grandson started to contribute to the freezer too... We are good on venison. Got a little fish left and likely will do redfish on the half shell either tomorrow or Saturday... Also have plenty of fresh port walkin' round in the back of my pasture and they are coming to the feeder in the daylight... Also have a freezer that is about 2/3 full of veggies from the garden from year before last... corn, peas, okra and a little squash. Got canned tomatoes, pickles, jelly. So with a little flour and cooking oil and spices, we are good for at least 6-8 months without going to the store if we had to. Been too dang wet to get a garden in the ground this year AGAIN!! If the Good Lord would just spare me this predicted rain over the next 2 days, it would finally be dry enough to get some beds going... we'll see...

I'm curious and considering a hunt for nilgai. I don't hunt anything I won't eat. How's nilgai and what recipes do you prepare? Not a fan of whitetail but have freezers full. I take extra steps to prepare the meat and consider the recipe before hand which allows me to enjoy the meat.

I'm no help on nilgai . On the whitetail I cut it in the biggest chunks I can and still get all the silver skin etc off.. my wife cooks it in the pressure cooker and makes bbq sandwiches out of it.. I'm not much on gamey tasting meat . We make sausage both pan and link and fry backstrap..

Last year my freezer died and I lost all my fish and game. And of course I got skunked in hunting season. This year I was planning on bear hunting, but not sure where that stands come September.

Son wants to run juglines since someone mentioned it on here
