    Less KS applications

Anyone think that there will be leas KS Deer applications this year with everything going on?

Last yr was the 1st yr that KS didnt have any leftover tags.

I’d be willing to bet that there are less applications.

Just my opinion..........there will be very few left over tags again this year. Social media and the outdoor channels have seen see to that.

I agree. Outfitter on every 80 acres now.

Still a lot better deer there than a whole lot of Texas places! And cheaper to hunt!

I am not putting in this year either. Only because I need to hunt my place more.

But yes, I think numbers will be lower.

I didn't draw last year for the first time in 13 years. Try paying $4k in lease fees and not be able to hunt!

It's overrun with hunters and outfitters. The real high quality land in my area has traded from farmers and ranchers to recreational buyers for hunting the past 10 years. It's apparent to me that if you don't purchase ground it's going to be harder and harder to find a quality place to hunt in KS.

It will be overdrawn again this year with no leftovers in my opinion. Some laid off workers won't put in for the draw but demand continue's to rise. I spoke to parks and wildlife last year to see if they would increase the number of tags to help meet demand and they said no. They said they expect Kansas to become an every other year draw state within 3 years based on increasing demand trends over the past 10 years.

The past decade of TV shows hunting in KS and claiming everything they see is 160" has killed the quality of the state. Folks who haven't hunted there yet don't realize that those TV personalities are hunting HIGH QUALITY outfitted ground. Outfitters in my area are paying $25-30 per acre for high quality ground.

                  I hope so!

Drew last 2 yrs, so no points!

                  Y'all need not apply.

May not be what it "used to be", but still legitimate chance for 170"++.

Buddy took a 163" and both of us seen better.

I dont lease (yet). Got a good deal going for now.

I get to use my point this season since I didn't draw last year. There is a lot of folks putting in this year with a point. It's going to put a lot of pressure on the draw

I personally know 8 who arent applying this year, one who passed away and the widow wont be applying either. So that is 10.

On the points, 2208 people were unsuccessful in the draw last year. Most of the folks that I know who arent applying this year fall in that #.

In the units that I hunt, last yr’s #s are similar to the last 3-4 yrs.

                          I didnt draw in 2016

Why are the people you know not applying?
