Never seen a speckled king with stripes across his back like that. I know there are different varieties of them though.

Go to Google and type in Speckled Kingsnake. Then hit "images." Just as many speckled kings have a light pattern as those with just flecks of color.

I wouldn't necessarily say any are "bad" snakes. Some just hurt a little worse when they bite ya. A snake's gonna do what a snake does.

Speckled king...best snake in the woods. Poisonous snake killer. And usually will let you pick them up without biting if you don’t manhandle them.

use this situation to educate your neighbor. King snakes eat rattlesnakes and copperheads. They are very docile and non-aggressive towards humans
