A “Quarantine” Kid’s Thread

I hope a Patek female never has cause to shoot at me...I’ll take my chances with Matt.

The kids all shot up a couple hundred rounds each today at cans and clays. Every kid loads their own mags, makes the rifle hot..SENDS IT, makes the rifle safe, and hands off. Only one of these kids is mine, but every one a pleasure to hang with.

They give me faith in intelligent humanity.

Oh man Dale this is a fantastic thread!! Because of a flooded out house, my daughter/son-in-law and my grandsons are living with us right now, and they've been goin' hog wild now that they're out of school and my daughter is home with 'em all day... no telling how many pounds of BB's have been shot! They were introduced to "crawfishin" this past week with bacon and a string... We got a feeder goin' down back of the pasture... hogs comin' in good now so soon as I get home from this lease trip, we gonna make some kind a pig die!! Hope to get to contribute with LDP's!!


This was a recent trip to the back pond... They wanted to keep what they caught for a "fish fry"... should'a seen them boys scrapin' those perch with a spoon!! Fried 'em up crisp and I showed 'em how to eat the tails first!! They thought that was the coolest thing ever!!

My son Jake and I went out today for youth turkey, and pigs of course. It was tough, but we finally got a couple of old toms coaxed in. The first gobbler came to a call. The 2nd one was brought in by a jake turkey. There were 3 toms that wouldn’t come in because of a hen they were following. The jake came in, and they came to chase him off. That was a fatal mistake for one of them. This was my son’s last official “youth hunt”, as he will turn 17 soon. We don’t get many days with just the 2 of us anymore, and it sure was a great time.

Friday I took the kids to our place for ‘science class’. Caught 2 coons, a pile of tadpoles, and the little girl picked a bunch of wildflowers.

Due to the virus, plans are being cancelled, including birthday parties. A friend of ours daughters party was one of them. Several kids in our community made signs for her and sat in the yard to whoop and holler when she drove by to see. It was a pretty neat way to show some love to friends even though this crazy time. Here is my crew with their sign.
