    Just my luck!

    When it rains it pours!

As most of ya know, I had to turn down the LSBA South Africa hunt because somebody smarted than me decided I wanted to transfer to the maintenance dept at work. To make matters worse, There is an outage planned the same time I was to go to Africa.

Then, I get a summons for jury duty. I've been at the Harris County Courthouse since 7am thismorning. To top it all off, I got selected to serve on a felony criminal case! Trial starts monday. I am off monday. Gotta go to jury duty on my day off. It aint that bad when I get out of a day of work, but not on my day off! Supposed to last at least til Wednesday. We'll see. If the trial goes anything like today, I'll be there til June!

So, did you go and eat at the church? I may have to come down there one day and go with you.

Bro, didn't you know to ask all kinds of "redneck" questions when the lawyers were questioning the jury pool??? And you got a VERY important lunch date next Thursday that you POSITIVELY cannot get out of!!! You go tell 'em that you gotta meet "CHEW" in Tomball.

I get called every year and never get picked....man, some of the 'jury of my peers' I'm in there with have me worried if I ever happen to end up in court

I bet it's going to be interesting & you come back with a great OP about the whole story

The upside is $9 pay for the day. Downside is $7 for parking.

I would have said, "If he's gotten this far he must be guilty" Then you'd be enjoying your day off.

The judge never let us out for lunch. Worked thru lunch so she could leave early. I was STARVIN when I got home!

Man, I never got a chance to show my neck! If they would have let me talk, I might be on trial!!

There was a guy there that said the very same words. He is seated behind me in the jurors box!! There was a woman that said she may have a hard time being fair, because she had the same experience as the case. She sits next to me.

                  Strange!

If it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all.

Skeeter, we appreciate folks like you showing up for jury duty. If you had a loved one on trial you'd want somebody like yourself with a rationale mind in the deliberation room rather than the folks that show up just wanting their ten dollars and end up on the panel. Thanks.

What Ricky T said. Thank you for being a part of the solution instead of the problem. Our country needs people like us on those juries TO MAKE RATIONAL DECISIONS. Again, thank you.

Rick has seen his share of jurors! Most of the guys I know on this site would be blown away in the jury room hearing some of the garbage that comes out of peoples mouths.

This is the third jury I have served on. One civil and two criminal cases. Yeah, it's a pain in the butt to go down there, but it is very interesting to see how the judical system actually works. I would rather get picked and sit in on a trial than waste a whole day and not get picked.

Plus, this sites down town are worth the price of parking!
