I've got a lifetime of those tattoos. Just part of working with hot metal.

The fish are bite-n and there's hogs to be killed, gotta go!

Wait till you get a big piece of slag in your ear or down your boot. Ouch

Doesn't take long to look at a hot piece of metal!

Had a piece of slag in my eye for a few hrs once. That sure sucked! Always wear safety glasses when chipping slag.

My first lesson in welding was metal burns at 1200 degrees, skin melts at 200 degrees. Be careful.

Made the mistake of wearing tennis shoes one time...and one time only. Took me a minute figure out why my foot felt like it was on fire

When in garage I weld in flip flops and I never use gloves. Not very smart, but I am (relatively) comfortable. . . until I get burned. :-)

When I was a kid, my dad was out in the shop welding. I walked out there, and when he lifted his hood up he started to tell me a few “rules” of being around when he is welding. (It was my first experience with welding.) He just got done telling me not to touch what he was welding because it would burn me, and he leaned over and rested his hand on the bead he had just ran. It still makes me laugh.

I was wearing regular work pants yesterday helping my kid who was welding. I was sittin by him and had a hood on running a grinder with cutting disk. Caught my leg on fire with slag and didn’t know because I was wearing a hood. Burned through pants and having to treat burn today. Dumb. Wearing my issued work pants with no apron on
