I would ask a gun smith to be sure. But it looks like it was brazed on, or sweated on. Basically takes heat to remove it, if that is the case, but not too much heat.
Definitely take it to your local gunsmith to prevent damaging a fine rifle. I learned that lesson the hard way. The cost should be minimal, certainly worth the peace of mind knowing you didn't damage the fine Colt Sauer.
