looking for a small camcorder for self-filming out of a tree stand off of a tree arm. I have an old one that works off of mini dvs. time to upgrade to digital hard drive or something. not looking for high dollar production camera. something under $500 or so. would like to have manual zoom option.

Ive been filming for 5-6 years with a Panasonic 1080HD v100 series so its easily doable with a sub $200 camera. I think I paid $125 for mine back then. The plan was to step up to the V770 series for $375-450 ish on Ebay but several grand in emergency car repairs put a hold on that.....and now that is past, this BS corona virus has me hesitant again. My plan before deer season is to upgrade to it though.
It all just depends on what you want to spend. You can get a good starter camera for under $200 or you can get a nice camera within your price range.

Agreed .....not for what I use it for anyway but I'm thinking I'd like to upgrade a tad. I'd probably be happy using this one for the next 5 years until 4000HD really kicks in and is more common...
