New charcoal grill suggestions and help

Hey guys I need some help and I'm hoping someone on the green screen can point me in the right direction. I've never owned a gas grill and I only use charcoal. I've had the same grill for around 18 or 19 years. I've worn it completely out and I even took it completely apart one time and had it sand blasted and painted but it's literally about to fall apart and I use it every week. I'm very picky about what I want but I grill all the time and I want to buy a grill that will last me another 20 years.

I'll post a picture below of pretty much what it looks like but my grill is way better made than the el-cheapo in the picture and has stood the test of nearly 20 years.

    So here are my requirements:

    1) I MUST be able to raise and lower the coals using a hand crank like the one in the picture. This non-negotiable and I won't consider a grill without it.

    2) I'd like to be stainless but if it's all steel and meets the other requirements I'll make it work.

    3) I don't want one of these Lowes/Home Depot/Walmart Chinese beer can grills. If you can open the lid and move it side to side (left to right) with any give, I'm out. I want a well built grill made to last.

    4) I'd need to be able to wheel it around on my covered porch as needed, so while heavy duty is good, I'm not looking for a shop built grill that would require 3 men and a boy to move.

    5) I don't want to say price doesn't matter, but if it's the right grill and it will last 20 years...price doesn't matter.lol

Suggestions? I know there has to be something like this out there. The grill I have now is not fancy and it didn't cost much over $100 20 years ago and it was probably from Lowes but things were just made better back then compared to everything I've seen.

I have had a Smoke Canyon just like this one going on 15 years. I never used it as a smoker, but I did use the fire box to store open bags of charcoal. Lol
I’m about to retire her to the lease, because the adjustable charcoal rack no longer works.
If I don’t get the same kind I’m getting some kind of ceramic grill.

I can’t seem to find anything more than pictures of this. Can’t find a place that sells it. Can you point me in the right direction?

This one looks pretty close to what you're describing. 304SS construction, adjustable coal bed height, and portable. A nice and often overlooked feature is sturdy shelves/hooks. Closest dealer to you is in Shreveport. Looks a lot like the above grill.

let us know what your typical cook is and we should be able to help you zero in on the perfect cooker.

Look at Kamodo Joe and Lonestar Grillz

Weber Kettle is an excellent grill but doesn't meet your requirements

Thank you very much. I cook a wide variety of the typical stuff. I cook a lot of steaks because we butcher my daughter's 4H show steer every year, so we have a ton of steaks. I also cook hamburgers, chicken thighs, pork chops, hot dogs, country style rips etc. Steaks are are several times a month though.

I started off with a regular old round Weber kettle grill when we first got married over 20 years ago and it was awesome. I really do like them. I've just gotten really spoiled to adjusting the height of the coals to suit my needs at that minute. A hard sear on steaks....crank the coals up high. Whey fat drips and they coals flame up, go down low. If I'm trying to cook something simple like hot dogs in a hurry, crank the coals up high. I know it's a lazy man's way of doing it but after nearly 20 years, I'm in a routine.lol

Yes! Those look great. We go to Shreveport all the time for our shopping since they are the closest "big" city and we're right by LA. As soon as this virus thing blows over and the world gets back to "normal", I will have to go over there and check them out....assuming my grill can make it that long.lol
