    Waitstaff and others

Not sure how many restaurant owners are on here but with the way things are going on the no dine in option. I think in lieu of using food delivery services that you probably didn’t use a ton before let the waitstaff and etc have first option at the gig so they can continue to make money. I don’t post much but have not noticed this happening anywhere. To me it benefits business owner and employees as well. Maybe dumb but just a random thought.

Not dumb at all. Restaurants and their employees are getting blistered. Anything a restaurant could do to keep money flowing in and keep their employees going would be helpful. I do believe you’ll see more restaurants offering their own delivery service rather than using one of the outside services.

I hope so. Not trying to knock the guys that do waiter or any of the other options but I would imagine most places don’t use them that much anyway. Not wanting to sound crude but I would take care of my staff first. Sorry if that offends.

Just wonder how many are going to traditional in-house delivery versus adding their location to the doordash/ubereats/grubhub platforms

Places around here are doing fast take out.

Order, pay, show up, and food is delivered to you while you sit in your truck

If the owner starts having his employees deliver he is likely going to be spreading his liability miles outside his building and probably well outside his insurance policy.

The liability is a big issue with the delivery-a lot of delivery companies do contract labor to avoid this. I own/manage a restaurant and have about 130 employees and this is going to be rough on most of them. Our company has and will always do its best to take care of our people but if this goes on more than a month it will be tough. We are doing to go only all over HOUSTON and it was dead today. Down about 80% in sales.

Yes, as a restaurant owner the liability was my first thought.

Best of luck to ya. And I’m sure most business owners want the best for their employees despite what a bunch of folks on the left think. Let’s just hope this is a few more weeks and nothing more

Yea. I didn’t realize the liability part. Sucks for every positive potential there is the downfall potential of someone wanting something for nothing. I wish you guys best of luck and hope everything shakes out in the end and ultimately finding an avenue of business that contributes to what you had previously.

Unfortunately there is always that liability part. The idea was good.....but some people suck and a business owner has to try and guard against them
