In the late 70’s and early 80’s I worked for a construction crane and elevator company in the Summer and Christmas break. I’ve climbed tower tops on the cranes, walked out to the end of the jib, climbed towers to bring pins and cotter keys, etc. As I got older, somewhere along the line, I grew to hate heights. Never bothered me as a young person.

I was a welders helper on a big site in the 80s. I would also pull beams in when cranes were unloading. I got trapped and push out 18 floors up. All the went through my mind was I hope the guy tying the clip line was paying attention. Dangling on that safety line seemed like an hour. It was probably less than 30 seconds

I have worked on many bridges and high rise buildings. Training, trusting your gear and partner is paramount.
