Back in the day, when you could call someone and if you did not hang up the line would be open/busy until you did, dad had a siren that he would put the mouthpiece of the phone in for about 5min and miraculously the other end would hang up

I can see some skinny jean wearing goober in a call center suddenly scream and throw his headset across the room

Of course these days you would probably end up the one being sued or charged with some BS
