Internet goo roos...using mobile hotspot at home

I'm not very tech savvy, but I get by. We live out in the country and currently use our mobile hotspot as our internet for our laptop. We would like our Dish connected to the internet so we can enjoy it away from home.

Is it possible to connect the dish hopper to a mobile hotspot from one of our tablets that have mobile data, and if so how do you do it? We dont have many options for internet where we're at, most are sub par or just not cost effective, so at the moment, internet outside of our hotspot is not an option.

Just curious if we can use a mobile hotspot in this scenario

Maybe get the Dish mobile app on the tablet and watch on it or find a suitable USB-HDMI cable and connect the table to the TV. Or if the TV has wifi, connect it to the tablet.

The dish box at home has to have internet for the app to work

I see... Haven't had Dish for about 5 years, but even then the receiver could be configured to connect to a wireless network.

does your mobile hotspot stay at home? or leave with you? if it stays I would think u can connect dish to it like any other wireless router?

Yes I have a device with a hotspot I can leave at home. Can the dish connect directly to it?

Since hot spots work like any other wifi network, I don't see why not. Ask Google how to set it up on wifi network and I'm sure there are simple instructions out there based on your specific box model.

Yes. It has an SSID(broadcast network name), you should see that when searching for wifi networks under the dish config menus.

Unless of course it has been configured to not broadcast SSID.(then begs the question... what method are you using to connect other devices to it?)

With my computer I just turn the wifi on and it finds the hotspot. I'll be back home soon, I'll give it a try and see if it can connect
