My Patriot Supply: Long term food storage review

I purchased a 1 year supply approximately 7 years ago. A few months ago we opened up a container and started to cook some of the food. The first thing we cooked was the white cheddar pasta and it was completely inedible. It had a super strong chemical taste like formaldehyde. We tried the potato soup and it was fine. However, the majority of the meals we cooked had the same chemical taste and were completely inedible. I contacted the company....”We will get this taken care of, send me a complete list and pictures of all your items”. Did all they asks and this was months ago, well before Covid 19 panic. The only response I got was “Be patient, we are working on it”. That was January 30th. I continued to email them and they finally just quit responding. This wasn’t a small investment and it has been a complete waste of money. Had we relied on this in an emergency, we would have starved. Please comment and share as I don’t want this happening to others and I fully intend on sharing this thread with the company.

What it's the expiration and expected shelf life? Its been about 7 yrs or so since I've done any prepping and I don't remember much of any type of food item that was good after 7 yrs. That's mainly why I never made an investment in a large supply. If they advertised an expiration date later than what you have I would think a reputable company would have replaced those items very quickly. Good luck brother. Hope they make it right for you.

Why not just buy twenty pounds each of
        Beans
        Rice
        Every two years
Then if you don't have a COVID19 or Harvey come around just donate it to a food bank and you replenish

And have 55 gallons of fresh water on deck
        Salt
        Pepper
        Rubbing alcohol
        Firewood
        Matches
        Firearm
        1k rounds ammo

I’m honestly surprised a company that sells food supplies like this is still in business 7 years later. Sorry that you’re getting screwed. So they have a Facebook page you can share this on?

I hear them advertising a lot, but personally I would never think a dehydrated 7 year old package of "food" would taste good or be a live saving investment.

              Terrible food and reviews

They have a really horrible review rates 58% of people who bought this junk
Have a negative experience, and problem with customer service and replacement i personally would avoid this brand !!! But it might taste better as people get more desperate

I got their free, 72 hour supply to sample before I made a purchase. Wound up buying a one week supply, for the variety.

Only one I have tried is the oatmeal, it was good.

Just looked again, they have a one year money back guarantee.

Wow, I read those reviews. I never knew people went so far as to spend their life savings on prepper stuff. I know I would never do such a thing. I would sooner spend my life savings on powder, bullets, primers or ammo first. I prefer fresh food. I have heard the government issued MREs mostly taste and look horrible. I have seen some MREs, I had no desire to try them, flat refused to try them.
I feel bad for the people who spent money on stuff like this and then find out they blew money on garbage. But they made the decision to do so.

Years ago we had hurricane Dolly hit us in the RGV. We had MRE’s distributed out to whoever needed them along with bottled waters. I was working for the city at the time so I was helping out with the clean up and shelters. Well the MRE’s that we’re being passed out were over a year expired lol.

Hurricane Bret , I got to try some MRE’s not great but it beat sour milk and sour orange juice, dry cornflakes

Hurricane Gilbert, we had a giant diesel emergency generator, 1000 gallon diesel tank and two walk in freezer reefer , and huge dry goods supply so no mre or emergency food

But this covid 19 will become a yearly thing so will start my new line of preparation

The Mormons practice being prepared and long term food storage. Non Mormons are welcome to purchase basic food staples packaged in #10 cans. Dry beans and rice have 30 year storage life. Stores are scattered around the country so one might not be near you. Very friendly folks in the stores.
