It could be a strand of wire or barb wire to the side of this pic. Yeah, don't be too quick to judge. Two years ago I had a mule deer at 33 yards broadside. 4x4, nothing spectacular. I was at full draw and bleated at him and he stopped. I released and the deer had spun to the right. At first, I feared I had hit him in the neck as he had been standing on a tank dam. I was on the other side in a blind.
The arrow's green lumenock was right beside his tail. It was buried deep, blood was pouring out, but I felt really bad about where the arrow hit him. Found him about 150 yards, dead and was dreading the gutting job. Removed the arrow and there was no bad smell or color. Gutting him, there was no damage to guts. Arrow trailed inside, thru his right tenderloin and severed the femoral artery.
A Texas Heart shot by complete accident, but a very quick recovery and no loss of meat. Never wanted this shot, never want it again, sometimes, things happen.
