Man I beat the heck out of my igloos, they always have something dead in them, then set in the sun for days to steralize and I have never had one crack. But mine are also 10+ years old.

Igloo Coolers Suck.....

Iv got an igloo I bought by senior year of high school. I graduated in 2004. Its cracked on the inside and has metal barn door hinges screwed on and a boot leather strap for a clasp. Its had countless deer and pigs in it and is now retired to being my slurry cooler for crawfish. If I had all the money back for the crawfish that passed thru it...cheap, easy and disposable if you want. Igloo is a win win

I've had a few if them over the decades. Still have two. One isn't pretty. Still work great for hauling home game.

I'm still using 3 igloos I've had at least 20 years. A 150, and two 100 qt. Replaced hinges and clasps once on each with stainless and all 3 still going strong.

The inside must just be thin and brittle with these new ones. Pretty sorry.
N, sounds like you need to steal your brother's. Or swap them out when he's not looking.

I have one of the huge Igloos, from the 90s, not sure on the size, but it's about 4' long, been a while since I have looked at it. It is at least 25 years old possibly 30 years old. The only problem I have with it, is the typical hinges and latches. I think the kits with latches, hinges and screws are something like $10. For a long time I never had any problems with the latches or hinges, but since replacing the first set, seems like I have to every couple of years, kind of thinking the newer replacement parts are not made from the same plastic the original ones were made of.

My Igloo coolers are 6-7years+ that I used for deer. I've replaced the hinges with standard metal hinges from HD or Lowes and you can get a set of the metal latches on Amazon for around $15. About $25 and you're done for the rest of the lift of the cooler. Fixing them reminds of a ink jet printer though.... the replacement cartridges cost half as much as the dang printer did to begin with! The best thing about the igloos though - you don't have to chain them down to the bed of the truck!

Oh, and I have a 150qt, two 120qt, a 78qt, two 48qt, two 28qt, and a 6-pack cooler. Cheap hinges are just part of the deal.
Make your own from leather and have years up on years of service.
I do have one 48qt that has cracked. And it now houses my 12-volt electrical stuff. But it's also one I bought back in the 1980s. I keep them indoors out of the sun and weather when not in use
. Hinges are the only things that I have a complaint about. But for the price of a cooler...and the use I've gotten out of them all over the years...I can't complain much

My green 110 had the handles pull out on both sides (trash) and my white 110 has two holes poked in the bottom I had to fill with epoxy. They are old and have served their purpose albeit many replaced hinges and clasps. Their only use these days are for deer meat transport. I finally put some stainless hinges on my white 110 so if I can keep holes out of it and the epoxy stays in place in the current holes, I'm good for the high quantity doe and mgmt deer weekends where I need more space. That being said, I've started using my rotomolded coolers for 1-2 deer ice drains and I like them so much better. Less ice replacement over a 5-6 days time and stronger more durable materials. Unloading a 65-75 with a deer or two in them from the truck to the garage is doable. Of course its easier for two folks much like an igloo.
