Mid-late July they will have their beams and frame, but still growing tine length and putting on their kickers. You will have a pretty good idea if they will be a trophy type or management type buck by then.

This week is been a good one for Webb and Zapata Co.

Lots of rain on our place in Willacy. Road straight into the ranch was covered in water, our pond that was completely dry is full now, and we almost got stuck in a couple of places.

Quail sure were loving all the water!

We generally have pretty decent growth around July 4th. I feel like 90% of the growing is done by mid August. We will definitely get cameras rolling around middle of July.

Over 6-1/2” at our place for May. Let’s hope we keep getting some more throughout the summer.

Headed to the ranch in n Webb county this coming weekend to put out protein and cottonseed. Shows it will be 108 on Saturday and Sunday. Going to be a hot weekend. We could use some more rain but the long range forecast shows dry and hot for the next two weeks with everyday over 100.

Just got back from the lease in McMullen yesterday after a quick day trip. Pastures look good but the heat is zapping the grass quick. Deer are fat and healthy, several are already showing some promise.
