    Favorite hog bait?

What’s your go-to bait for hog traps or hunting? I’m looking for some creative bait ideas (other than straight corn).

So far I have mixed corn with water/yeast, milk, big red soda, and jello powder. Also tried horse sweet feed and nugget treats. I’m not sure any one bait worked better than the others. Next I want to try old produce and/or leftover donuts.

I’ve tried everything you can buy or mix

I now only use corn mixed 50/50 with corn... works every time

This! I scale mine back to 60/40 corn/corn. But 50/50 will work.

I usually mix liquid acorn rage and a bear bait product called gold rush, the gold rush goes a long way as far as scent.

We get some beer mash leftovers from a guy that home brews. It freezes in gallon zip locs nicely. Throw 1 or 2 in the trap with a little corn and when it thaws and pigs catch wind it's on.

Corn and vanilla! I buy the cheap stuff at Walmart and it smells good!

I’ve played with it all. CORN is your answer.

But if you wanna play too...soured corn got the most response for me. Beer and water.

How long does it take to ferment?

I think I’ve best luck with an 80/20 corn/corn mix.

Corn--- You want to bring them in, take a landscape timber or wood post, sink in in deep, attach a piece of carpet and spray it with diesel. They will rub it to the core! The corn on the ground/feeder will help too.

Agreed. If huntin a new spot nothing gets em in faster than some stinking, swelled up corn. I usually let some milo rot with it too. Adds to the nasty! I keep a bunch of it rotting in a barrel in the summer for pigs and catfish.

Poured diesel on the corn in our trap. Its been 4 weeks and not one pig will go in the trap! They will eat the corn our feeder throws out side but won't go in.
