Boat tour was fun. I also did a food and beer tour that was a blast. Got to eat food and enjoy some beer at a half dozen different historical places, easy walking distance.
So, so many great restaurants in downtown Chicago!! We used to stay in the old Palmer House when we were there... We'd just walk out the hotel and pick a street/direction and walk into a different restaurant every night... Seldom chose wrong... Been a long time since I was there so don't know what it's like now. I got to go to a Cubbies game, sit right behind the dugout of the Cubs. Mark McGuyer hit a grand slam and the Cubbies won! 7th inning, got to sing Take me Out to the Ballgame with Harry Carry Jr. Ate dogs and pretzels.... Now it don't get more Americana than that!! Having said all that. I have ABSOLUTELY NO DESIRE to EVER set foot back in Chicago again... I've spent some mighty miserable Winter weather time there, mostly in and around McCormick place!
Giadanno's Pizza. They have expanded outside Chicago, but go to the original store, it's so good. Apart from that, the aquarium, the science and industry muesem, Second City is REALLY fun (Just be prepared, they hate republicans. If you can look past their underlying anger, it's really funny). Beyond that, it's cold this time of year or I would say Magnificent Mile, Chicago Zoo, and Navy Pier. Also check out the Goose Island Brewery, Sears Tower (Or whatever it's called now).
If you like polish food, there are hundreds of genuine polish restaurants that still speak polish, and the food is fantastic.
