You can fry them all together, and the only difference will be the texture. Crappie are bland, whites and hybrids are strong, trout are really fishy, catfish are middle road, bass and bream are sweet, but in the end, they’re all delicious!!!!0

I will say this also. I have eaten no telling how many pounds of catfish out of lake conroe and lake Livingston since I was a kid. I have eaten some that were really fishy cooked by other peoole at church cookouts and so on. I honestly believe the way you clean and prep your fish before freezing has 99% to do with the fishy taste including washing it out good and cutting out the blood line.

Blue Cat if caught from cooler clear water.
Yellow Cat but not big like the one above. I caught two about 45 # same day. Both were rubbery and not very good. Did eat them but nothing like a good ole 12#.
Walleye is superb (and hard to find in Texas)
Crappy. lot of work but worth it!
Wife: White Bass so tomorrow I will try to catch her a few dozen.
Striper all blood removed and 5 to 10 #
Rainbow stocked freebies once a year. Gut cook whole with salt, garlic in butter Or smoked
              Tried Gar. Fishy oily Nope!
Gaspers Yes if clean water and under 3 lbs. Close to the salty cousin Balck Drum
              Channel is abundant and great
Stuff that swims run a risk swimming near me. I am not picky

A spicy mesquite grilled catfish filet is hard to beat.

Cold water Channel cats caught through the ice in the winter are amazing, on par with walleyes. All of the fish up here have a firmer texture in the winter.
Lake trout would have to be number one, hands down. Brook trout are a close second.
Herring from Lake Superior are something else.

Same for me but put Walleye on top of Crappie. Love some good cold/clean water catfish but like all of the above a little better.
