    Best Easily Portable Tripod/Quadpod?

    Howdy all:

I am seeking your opinion on the best portable tripod or quadpod.

The features most important to me are:

Transported easily in a truck and on foot by carrying to hunt area. I may need to walk this stand in up to a mile through some fairly thick stuff.

    Lightweight obviously.

Quick and easy set up and break down.

Break down into relatively small components for easy carrying.

Comfortable seat to sit and adequate distance from seat to platform. I am about 6 foot and don't like my knees too high when resting on the platform.

    Adequate platform for standing shots.

    Quiet.

Some way to camo and conceal hunter by attaching camo netting.

I have a BBK portable tripod, but would like to see if there is something better in the areas I set out above.

Thanks in advance for all input.

    Eric

That is a hard one. I have had a pretty easy time getting stands in and out with a dolly with pneumatic tires. Not familiar withBBK, Have you thought about a hot air baloon? JK

Our BBK works really well. We changed out the seat for a bucket plastic boat one. Other than that, we just unbolt the legs where they attach at the platform and carry it out on our shoulders.I can carry my pack on my back, bow in left hand and entire tripod on right shoulder. Another option is the one offered by STTF, if you don't mind the price or small foot area.

Sotex Tripods are the way to go. I have 3 of them and they are great. I could carry the dang 10 footers forever with little problems, they weigh next to nothing and are very sturdy.

I like the south texas tripods and hunt out of them also there is a guy in the DFW area that makes tripods out of steel and aluminum, same design different prices....his company is e-fab, he might have a web site now too, yahoo it, his name is Rick Espino, I have the steel tripod ad it hunts great and I'm 6' 2".... you can carry it you might not want to haul it a mile, but the aluminum one might fit the bill....

oh btw he E-fab makes a cool camera attachment the you can put a gorilla arm on for like 30 bucks or something it fits onto the foot braces and the angle and height are adjustable...if your shooting video it is the best set up around

                      Thanks for all the replies.

                      I'll check out S. Tex. Tripods & E-fab.

How adequate is the platform on the S. Tex. Tripod? The platform seems small. Can you stand to draw & shoot? Or must that be done while seated?

                      Thanks again,
                      E

you have to sit and shoot out of both of those....rick could possibly build something to stand on, but that adds weight....

both are very comfortable to shoot from sitting...
