    Truck Speaker upgrade Question

I am going to upgrade the speakers in my 2017 F150 super crew. At this time I have no plans of adding a subwoofer due to it taking up space.

My plan is to replace the 6x9 in the front doors and the 6.5” speakers in the back doors. I haven’t bought car speakers in a long time and was hoping for some advice. At this time I have no plans of adding a subwoofer due to it taking up space.

What speakers give a full rich sound without the need for a subwoofer? I don’t mind spending for some quality speakers. I have had good luck with higher end Infinity speakers in the past but not sure if they are good anymore.

I just put infinity reference 6x9 and 3-1/2 in my 2019 Ram 2500. HUGE difference. Super happy with the results.

Kicker makes a full kit with speakers and an amp. Plug and play system. Supposed to sound legit, I was looking at it, but ended up going a different route.

That kicker kit might have a sub. But if it does, it’s tiny and fits behind the back seat. Takes up none of the currently useable space.

I would use Crutchfield. They have a good website or you can call and talk to someone who knows what they are doing. They will send you everything you need for your install and they will get you speakers that will work with your existing system. You have 60 days to change your mind if you are not happy with the new ones. I went with JVC and they do the job but I am not super picky.

Crutchfield perfected this deal long ago.

I notice when I change out the factory speakers that I lose a lot of midbass. If you like the higher range, then you’re fine. Factory head units, and aftermarket for that matter, rarely drive speakers well enough.

I’d consider amplifying them if I was you. Find a nice spot under one of your front seats and you will hardly notice it’s there.

For what you’re looking for my go to set up would be Boston acoustic speakers in the doors and a 4 channel alpine amp under the front seat.

                      Thanks guys!

I’m leaning toward going with a Kenwood Excelon Multimedia Head Unit. Likely with the Focal speakers as the reviews say they have good mid and bass. After the comments I might add a four channel amp if it’s not too hard to do. All from Crutchfield.

I need to do the same thing. Just went from a King Ranch with all Sony speakers to an XLT with crappy ones, I’m ready for a change.

Call Crutchfield. They will point you in the right direction. Awesome people to work with, and will help you step by step with installing it too.

I got a set of really nice Infinity speakers for my car. I think I spent like $200, and they are 10x better than what was in there.

                              Tagged.

Planned on upgrading my speakers in my 2017 F150 this year and almost kicking around the idea of changing the screen to one of the Phoenix 12.1" or Linkswell telsa screens but waiting for more and more reviews to trickle out.
