16 or 24 inch CoonHood? It will be going on the bottom of a normal barrel feeder.. Of course, I didn't think to measure it out last weekend when I was up at the lease.

My thought process was, buy the 16" and I can always trim the feeder legs if I need to. I'm new to the free choice feeding world though and all advice is welcome.

They just came out with a new product that attaches to basically any flat surface and they have two options. 16" long & 24" long

Ahh, i just looked at it on their site. The bottom of the feed port needs to be about 38" - 40" off the ground. I would probably buy the shorter one. If, it's too far off the ground, then cut the feeder legs down. That would save a few inches of height when it comes feeder filling time. The hoods are definitely worth the investment. Good luck.

Get the shorter one. Like you said, you can cut the existing legs if necessary. Ya can’t grow them without buying new ones.

I have a protein feeder with them and highly recommend it
