Y’all using a fish finder and cast net to catch shad that big? Or is there an area of the lake they can be caught pretty consistently? The only experience I have catching shad are spillways.

I catch them at a spillway 95% of the time.
In 20 min I can fill a bucket up with only big ones.
They are there almost yr around.
I have a net that we taped the weights on, but I only throw in the lake if I have to.

You too, I will probably catch some evening fishing Thursday, haven’t been out there in a while to dish but I did have about an hour the other day to drive around and just get an idea and marked some fish..

Can you share more details about your rig? That's a phenomenal hookup ratio.

Made a quick noodle run on the lower Brazos this morning didn’t catch a ton of fish but the ones we did were pretty solid. Also saw the first June bugs tonight which is when many believe its time to start catfishing
