I'm 62 years old and busting my *** to pay off ALL of my debt. I suggest you do the same.

That’s called stealing. This right here is one of the reasons credit cards have stupid high interest rates and we don’t use one. The companies know that some will buy and not pay so they screw those that get behind on paying back. You borrowed it it, pay it back... or stop using credit cards... or both

If you walk away from your obligation to pay off your debt, it will fall on the people who pay their debts responsibly to pick up your share. Not fair but seems this is the attitude of the current society. Talk to your CC company and work out a plan, this will also keep you from having to wait 7 to 10 years to clear your credit history. If you are not rich, I promise you will feel the pain of not having good credit. Good luck!!

It'll be hard to explain to a banker down the road and won't instill any confidence in them knowing you have a history of committing and then crawdad-ding on that commitment,

When my wife divorced her first husband there was some debt that didn't get paid for of about $800. One night a constable that we both know showed up at our door and served her with some debt papers, evidently my exe got him to investigate her and found the 20 year old debt. It ended up costing us about $8000 in lawyer fees and debt repayment. Long story short pay your debt or it can come back threefold.

I lose 3% of my revenue every year due to non payers on their credit accounts. They buy my tools and pawn them off for another fix and never pay or they just disappear. Some folks just buy stuff whether they need it or not, others live on overtime till they cant. Some kids in the oilfield live this life till they are broke, and then struggle for years trying to get their lives straight. I have heard every excuse in the world. Some of the best customers I ever get are illegals. Go figure.
Unfortunately the laws in Texas are not on the business owners side and it is left up to me whether to give you credit. I can assure you that I can figure you out fairly quick. Credit on my tool truck is a privilege and not a right. I can write off my cost of the tools but not the profit loss. If I could collect all of my delinquent accounts, I could have retired by now. I have also learned not to spend too much time chasing bad money, it will make you sick.
Accountability is not a strong trait in people today, I guess it is easier to just move on and leave a pile of chit where you just left.
I sell tools for a living and I like it, been doing it so long that I am now selling tools to some of my first customers grand kids.
To the OP, I dont know what kind of demons you are fighting but do what you gotta do and remember that Karma is alive and well.

Just pay it, years ago I had a Nextel bill that even after I told them to shut the phone off they hit me for another two months worth of bills. I said I’d never pay it, it hit my credit and what would have been about $250 ended up costing about 2k in the long run after late and being sold to several collection agencies etc. It took years to get it cleaned up and to have all of the collections agency’s finally drop it after it was paid off. It will follow you for more than 7 years.
