Does the "Bisquit" type rest reduce the speed of the arrow? If so, how much of a reduction in speed?

I have to agree with mesquite on this one. Ask most anyone that's switched from one (you'll find quite a few) and they should be called a friction biscuit. I've heard about torn up vanes, excessive noise, and general inaccuracy with them. My wife used to shoot one and finally switched to a Trophy Taker. She said that they would be good for someone just starting out, would be perfect.
And please, I intend no offense by that, psebrian, none at all. The main thing is that if it works for you, then don't touch it! If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Val's scores on dots improved dramatically when she got rid of the biscuit. A lot of folks back home in Ohio (as well as here on this board) use them, too, but like Epack was saying, yes, they will slow you down, a few feet per second, but probably not enough to make a significant enough difference unless you're trying to squeeze as many fps out of your bow.
I shoot a dropaway, and even with that I shoot about 250 fps, maybe more, but I don't pull but about sixty pounds.
Welcome to the fire!

I use the biscuit and absolutely love it. I don't think I will ever change. I shoot just as well as everyone I shoot with and I like the fact that I don't have to worry about the arrow falling off the rest when I'm in the stand.
I use the biscuit designed for aluminum arrows and I shoot carbon. My arrow merely rests on the bottom of the brushes and the only point there is any friction is when the vanes go through the biscuit. I have no problems with torn vanes or any problems with accuracy. I don't feel that I lose any speed whatsoever either.

If you want a full capture rest try the Quiktune 360. It will still have some friction on the arrow but shouldn't be as much as the bisquit. They also full feather/vane clearance so it shouldn't tear them.
You can read more about it at New Archery or Cabelas

I've tried half a dozen different drop-away rests. Then I tried the Whisker Biscuit. That was about 2 years ago now. The Biscuit is still on my bow, and I prefer it hands down to ANY of the drop-away rests that I tried, including the Trophy Taker, Trap Door, GK Mirage or Muzzy Zero Effect. Frankly, it's awesome, and I can't notice a bit of difference in accuracy or speed between it and the other rests. What I do have, though, is a LOT more confidence in the Biscuit, and that will always help you shoot better.

Has anyone tried to do walk back tuning with a WB?? Good luck with that. IMO there is not nearly enough adjustability to be VERY accurate with this rest. Accurate enough, but there is better. I also have heard they are very loud. I do not know this, but tyr drawing an arrow across a hairbrush in your closet. its gonna be loud. On the other hand, there are TONS of deer that fall over dead from arrows shot through the WB rest every year.

Skip knows why I still have the biscuit on, so here's my story...
I hunt in tree stands most of the time, and I had a problem with arrows falling off the rest. It was probably just me and my inexperience, but it's a distraction I don't want to have to deal with. I've had it for about 6 months, and it has eliminated that concern completely.
Now, here's the deal - it tears up my veins and I will never beat Skip and Val in the dot league with it on. (To clarify, it took 6 months of shooting the same 6 arrows 10-20 times a week, each for them to start tearing apart.) I'm switching to blazers this week, which should take care of the vein problem (I know several people who shoot blazers through a biscuit with no problems).
...and even with the blazers, I probably won't ever win the dot league - I do believe the biscuit expands my groups by about an inch at 20 yards. This is enough to keep me from ever shooting a 300, but I don't think it will ever cost me a kill shot. I'll just have to show off the pictures of all the big deer I shoot using the biscuit - and I'll always have a convenient excuse for why I can't catch up with Skip and Val
...oh, and I have never heard any noise with my WB (and neither have any of the animals I have draw on).

Aw, you know it's not about the dots! Thursdays are for fun and hanging out and spending time with friends doing something we all enjoy...picking on Luckie, watching Jeff's wife outshoot him, you know, all the fun stuff!
Oh, and Scott, Granger yes?
But to be honest, and I think this is THE most important, just like aghntr98 said, is that it removed a distraction that you no longer have to deal with. And confidence in your setup is vital to whatever type of shooting you're doing.
