    Deer injury question

So we wounded a deer this year(front leg and brisket) in early October and he disappeared until about a week ago where he started showing back up to protein. He is noticeably skinnier and can barely put pressure on his left leg, but the wound is healed up. My First question is, what are the chances of survival through summer(protein and water is plentiful). Secondly, will these injuries affect his horn growth? Only reason I ask that is because we found his sheds and he put out a heck of a rack.

How is the predator population out where you are? My only concern would be being able to flee from a potential threat. If food and water are a plenty he should be fine.

The property is high fence and we snare almost all crossings. I haven’t seen a coyote or bobcat in 5 years.

          Deer injury question

If it’s HF I bet you are good only other threat I could see is infection but if the wound is healed he should be good to go. Unless he already has something and that’s causing him to be so skinny.

It’s amazing how tough those SOBs are

As far as how will his rack end up. No clue but will be interesting to watch.

I think he'll make it. 3 1/2 months and he's still going. I'd assume any infection would have gotten him by now. If he can't put pressure on the leg and the wound is healed, probably broke it pretty good.

I have three at the house with broken ankles. All look healthy! Two broken this year!

That’s promising to hear. We saw him again yesterday. Was in the protein pen running around and mixing it up. We will see what happens!
