    Axis Hunting

I was wondering, if you are wanting to shoot an axis at night, what color light is best to use? Red or Green? What say the green screen?

I'd use green or white but it's just personal preference.

Green is harder at distance, but they are less spooky. White is best, but you better shoot fast.

Is putting a solar light on the feeder an option?

I was told they freeze at night with bright white headlights. Ranchers grandson took out something like 62 last year, said they are easier to shoot at night. He waits for them to show up in the fields on a Gator sidexside, hits the light and starts shooting. Said he gets multiple ones on each setup.

Here in East Texas we use white most of the time. Now around Christmas we use green and red lightning to be festive.

This was Thursday night. He didn’t freeze in the light but didn’t run off spooked badly either.

it's hard to see their spots under a green feeder light. i have ine that is motion activated and slowly brightens when triggered. it works great for hogs and axis bucks but sometimes its sketchy on the does.
