The bees showed up on my parent’s place last week.
This pic is the main line of pallets.i think it is anround 65 pallets. Almost all the pallets are 4 hives. There’s about 20 more pallets in this field, and several hundred 5-frame nucs in another. They had just been dropped off the day before, and were a little hot from being shipped in, so I decided to not get any closer for pictures. I’ll try to get a better picture in the next week or so. The guy has a contract with HEB. My parents don’t charge him, but he definitely spoils them with honey. This is the third year they have used the place.

So, I failed last year miserably.
Put my trap out a week ago, now have a swarm in my trap.
Question is, how long to wait before relocating them to my hive?
I waited too long last year, and it was a total cluster.
Dont want to mess this chance up.

My best guess is that you damaged the queen in the clip.
I have had it happen twice. Did not hurt the Queen. Beekeeping has become very frustrating. I have caught several swarms this year and they all have absconded.

I have not read through this thread, but I need somebody to come remove bees 7 miles north west of Eden. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Bought a couple of nucs and this morning I moved them into a deep box. Fire ants were building a nest on top of the cinder block that I had the nuc box setting on. What do y’all use to control fire ants?

I use ortho in the yard, but by your bees I would either use some organic stuff or a big pot of boiling water

Both soap and d-limonene, found in orange oil, kill fire ants on contact, according to research
conducted by the Texas Cooperative Extension
But the best fire ant killer contains both orange oil
and soap - either horticultural soap or Dawn liquid
dishwashing soap. Mix 1.5 ounces of orange oil
and 3 ounces of the Dawn into 1 gallon of water, or
add 0.42 ounces of horticultural soap and 2.11
ounces of orange oil to 1 gallon of water. Apply as
a mound drench during early morning or late
afternoon hours of the day, which is when the fire
ants are most likely to be home.

                    found this

After I wiped off the ants, I haven’t had any problems.
On another note, I’ve been working 7-12’s three hours from home. They gave us a night off Saturday so I drove home Saturday morning. Got 4 hives there, well now 3!!! Wax moths moved in on one hive and completely destroyed it. Didn’t have time to fool with it. Gonna be a mess when I get thru with this job and get back home to clean it up. I ended up building 2, 5 gallon bucket feeders and getting those set up. By the time I left to get back to this job, the bees hadn’t found it. Wife sent me a picture later today and they had them covered up. Theys was hungry lol!!!

Where can a guy go to buy mated queens and not have them shipped? I have a couple of hives I may have to re-queen and a couple of hives that I might have to split.

                          Good question here !
Why are you re queening ?
I have a hive that is pretty aggressive, and was told to re Queen my hive. I have a wild caught swarm, and they are about as aggressive as bees get.

From the last 2 times I checked this hive, very little capped brood, same with eggs and larvae. I am going to pour the feed to them once I get back home and see if that changes anything. If not, need to get rid of her. Right now, she has plenty of comb to lay eggs in, just not doing it. Going to see if lack of resources has anything to do with it before I snuff her out.
